NELSON LAKES NATIONAL PARK - NZ

Situated at the northern end of the Southern Alps, Nelson Lakes National Park is known for its lakes, mountain ranges and honeydew beech forests. The Rotoiti Nature Recovery Project covering 5000 hectares of this honeydew beech forests is one of six 'mainland islands' where pest control and the recovery of native species is managed by DOC and volunteers.

Lake Rotoiti (little lake in Maori) and Lake Rotoroa (long lake) are the main attractions. St Arnaud on the shores of Lake Rotoiti is considered the gateway to the Nelson Lakes National Park and the many walks and activities that the park offers.
